Dundas Place
Dundas Place is a short, level street in the Port Phillip area of Melbourne. It is lined with a variety of Australian and European trees and curves towards the Albert Park shopping and café strip. Most of the houses are over a hundred years old (quite old by Australian standards) and many are two-storey, 19th century terraces. The house lots are much smaller than the Melbourne average and, while most people have cars, very few have off-street parking, so there are always cars parked in the street. It's not the problem it is in Freedom Road as Dundas Place is wide and it is not a traffic artery. We are very well served by trams with three routes passing one or another end of the street. Despite the trams and heavy traffic in streets nearby, the street is quiet.

The city is 4 km away. Port Phillip Bay is 1 km away and, in the other direction is a park and lake populated by many birds including Australian black swans. Large areas of the park are out of bounds to park users for some months around the staging of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which has been held there annually for 10 years. Perhaps some people watching the Commonwealth Games caught a glimpse of the park as the swimming pools used are sited there.

Dundas Place residents are practiced street party organisers, encouraged by their local council, Port Phillip, who lend out marquees, bbqs and cover insurance costs! Here are some photos taken by Regina Grant from a previous street party.
